Prospect Lake Soccer Club was founded in 1960 and is based in Victoria, British Columbia. The club has a rich history in amateur soccer in the Greater Victoria region providing soccer related programming for players of all ages and abilities. The club is a member of Lower Island Soccer Association for youth soccer and has adult teams that play in several different leagues.

Overview of the Position

Prospect Lake Soccer Club is looking for a Technical Director to join our club. The technical director is the senior technical leader in the club and is responsible for the club’s overall technical leadership and development primarily focusing on youth players. In addition the Technical Director is accountable for coach development.

The club adheres to Canada Soccer’s Long Term Player Development model. A strong, proven background in grassroots and competitive soccer is required. This position also manages the club’s technical budget and any additional coaching staff.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a team and work independently with little or no supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational ability
  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with club members, the public, and the Board of Directors under all types of conditions while maintaining a positive and supportive approach.
  • Canada Soccer Association C license and Canada Soccer Association Childrens Diploma
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and coach players of various ages
  • Experience related directly in not-for-profit organization is an asset
  • This position requires a Criminal Record Check. First Aid Certification is an asset.

Accountabilities

Player Development

  • Create and administer a player development model in accordance with BC Soccer and Canada Soccer LTPD guidelines.
  • Offer age-appropriate skills training sessions to foster player development.
  • Perform player assessments and team selections, providing feedback to players in a positive and constructive manner
  • Run training sessions for youth teams

Coach Development

  • Design and administer an overall coach development program
  • Facilitate Canada Soccer’s Long Term Player Development course, the club can assist in obtaining the necessary credentials if needed
  • Identify, recruit and manager volunteer coaches for all ages
  • Provide development and educational opportunities for coaches

Administration and Program Development

  • Identify improvements to the current programs including areas for expansion such as academies, camps and parent education.
  • Develop and implement strategies programs in accordance with BC Soccer’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion plan
  • Liaise with Lower Island Soccer Association, BC Soccer and local clubs
  • Attend youth district technical meetings
  • Attend monthly board meetings at the request of the Board of Directors
  • Recruit and manage the Club’s paid and volunteer technical contractors
  • Communicate effectively with parents
  • Manage the technical budget for the club
  • Complete other tasks that would reasonably fall into the Technical Director portfolio
