Mark the date!  You are invited to the Prospect Lake Soccer Club’s Annual General Meeting, Tuesday, April 28, 7:00 pm. Given the current health restrictions this year’s AGM will be held virtually.  Don’t miss the opportunity to attend.  Send an email to president@plsc.org to reserve your spot.  A link to the meeting along with supporting documentation will be provided by return email closer to the AGM date.

Nominations for the Board of Directors may be made by any member provided that notice in writing of the nomination, together with the nominee’s acceptance is submitted to the PLSC secretary.

Attendance and Proxies We encourage members to come and support your club. This is a great time to meet all the Executive members. As a member of the club, you are entitled to vote at the meeting. Voting by proxy is not permitted. Members attending the AGM are eligible to win a complimentary registration for the 2021/22 season.

Volunteering This is your club, and it will only grow with your support and help. If a board position is not what you are looking for, we are always looking for volunteers to help at events, or assist the board. If you cannot attend the AGM but would still like to volunteer, please send an email to volunteers@plsc.org.

Interested in joining the Board of Directors? Here’s some information on vacant positions and those we’d like to fill. If you’re interested in knowing more, please contact us. With a turf replacement coming soon, many of these positions help offset that cost. Oh, and by the way, I’m writing this like we will back in full-swing in the fall — fingers crossed!

Our club is a well-oiled machine when it comes to planning soccer, so rest assured, you don’t need to know what off-side is to join, there isn’t a test, and I still don’t get it right. Do you have a friend or two that you could share a position with? Maybe it’s something that your soccer player could help out with? If not, you have the Board behind you.

The Store Coordinator

Usually busier at the beginning of the season and at Christmas, it generally involves working with teams for extra gear, ordering on their behalf and keeping track of inventory for store openings, which is handled by volunteers. It could also mean working with SoccerWorld to bring in new products.

The concession Coordinator

Keeping track of coffee and snacks to ensure we’re stocked for openings on Saturday mornings, or whenever there’s an event. Again, volunteers work hours at the concession.

Sponsorship

This may be a position that you have a bit of interest or background in, but not necessary. With new ways to recognize our sponsors, this would be a great way to support the club on your own time.

Volunteer coordinator

This is a great position for someone organized and loves their phone, device or laptop. It’s really coordinating volunteers for the concession and the store, and receiving volunteer hours from team managers. We’re open to new ways of managing this as well.

Womens Coordinator

This is exactly what the tile says, coordinating our women’s teams.

Director-at-Large

Not something we talk about too much about because we always have a position available, but sitting as a Director-at-Large is another great option to be a Member of the Board with voting rights, likely in the hopes of taking over a position at some point. This would be a great way to learn what the Registrar or Treasurer does.

All of these positions are a great way to meet and collaborate with members in our soccer community and our community in general. They can be as little or as much as you want them to be and if you have someone to help you, even better, but we have your back!

Risk Management

Ensuring that all police record checks have been completed and filed for all team officials, staff and Board of Directors. Receiving and filing code of conduct for coaches, players and parents. Monitoring our insurance.

Some positions are up for re-election this year, which we do at the first Board Meeting following the AGM.

These positions include the following, but if you have an interest in a different area than those listed here, please consider putting your name forward, many board members have been around for awhile and I’m sure would be happy to assist in other areas.
