Prospect Lake Soccer Club was formed in 1960 with two teams.

On August, 29, 1972, the first Executive meeting of the Prospect Lake Soccer Club was held. "A committee was formed to alleviate some of the duties previously undertaken entirely by Mr. and Mrs. Albert McDonald." Mr. McDonald was elected as the first President of the Club on the understanding that these duties would be assumed by the vice-president, Mr. Walter Margetts, the following year. To commemorate the spirit of the first President and his wife, a shield bearing their name is awarded annually to a person (or couple) who have served the Club in an outstanding way.

The House programme was initiated in 1981. This programme allows 5- and 6-year-olds to become involved in the game. Initially, the programme was run out of Prospect Lake field on Friday nights but, in later years, moved to kinder conditions on Saturdays at Layritz and Rosedale fields, before evolving to the present programme at Royal Oak School.

In the 1981/1982 season, girls’ soccer was offered for the first time at Prospect Lake Soccer Club. In that first season, there were three girls teams in Divisions IV, VI, and VIII (Mini), as well as a scattering of girls in the House programme.
